I’m Sam Sycamore, a writer and software engineer with over ten years of professional experience across multiple industries. I provide technical writing, editorial, and developer advocacy services to technology companies and digital product agencies.

Technical skills

My specialty as a software engineer is front-end web development, mostly with React and JavaScript / TypeScript. I consider myself a design engineer—someone who can write code, but who also has a deep understanding of UI and UX design principles. I’m always tinkering with new developer tools, libraries, and frameworks to build and deploy web apps.

Personal life

I currently live Spokane, Washington with my partner and our two dogs. I enjoy hiking, exercising, carpentry, and making music in my free time. I’m an avid reader—some of my favorite authors include Cormac McCarthy, Don DeLillo, John Steinbeck, and David Foster Wallace.
